My Travel Bucket List 🌍

Hi everyone – I hope you’re all well!

Today’s blog post is all about the gigantic, long thing that is my travel bucket list.

I love to travel, and would like to visit pretty much every country in this world (with a few exceptions, of course.) Despite having a terrible fear of flying and convincing myself that my life is essentially over every time I board an aircraft (which is fairly often), going away is one of my favourite things to do and I always feel so content when I’m off exploring somewhere new (as it’s normally paired with a lot of alcohol consumption and stuffing my face with local delicacies).

So, I thought I’d chat all about the places I’ve got on my bucket list – some of which are extremely predictable, others which are a bit more unusual. I’d love to hear if any of you have been to these places, so let me know in the comments what you thought of them if you’ve been lucky enough to go! In no particular order, let’s get down to business…

1 – New York, USA

I’ve never been to America before, so I think New York would be an amazing place to start. The main reason I want to go is, let’s not lie, for all the unreal food there – I follow so many drool-worthy Instagram accounts of NY Food spots that I absolutely torment myself with by browsing when I’m hangry, so to actually go there and sample some of the eats in real life with a city food tour would be incred. I don’t know anyone who’s been to New York and not loved it, so it’s quite high at the top of my bucket list!

2- Lake Bled, Slovenia

I’d absolutely love to visit here because of it’s natural beauty – like Lake Como in Italy, it just looks like one of those places you could simply sit and look at and not get bored for hours. Any excuse to whack the camera out is a good idea in my opinion, and Lake Bled looks like it would be absolutely unbelievable! It looks like an amazing place to go on hikes, too. I do like a long walk, me.

3 – The Maldives

I mean… come on, basic or what, but why wouldn’t you want to visit The Maldives? It looks like something out of a film, although I think I’ll be saving it for my honeymoon… assuming I’ll hopefully get married one day in order to warrant a honeymoon, obvs.

4 – Fiji

Similarly to The Maldives, Fiji sounds like a beach-bums dream. White sand, turquoise sea… what’s not to love? *I type whilst sobbing, gazing out the window over grey, drizzly Hove*

5 – Edinburgh, Scotland

One closer to home, but still beautiful nonetheless. I’d love to explore more places in the UK, as my UK footprint is actually rather measly – it pretty much consists of Brighton, London, a handful of ‘student cities’ and muddy festival fields. I’ve never been to Scotland in my life, and Edinburgh just looks magical; old cobbled streets and all the rest, a perfect city to explore of a weekend.

6 – Borneo

I’ve always wanted to visit a rainforest and Borneo looks like it would deliver on that front. It’s definitely on my tick-list for travelling the world this year!

7 – Las Vegas, USA

I need to head to Las Vegas in the next few years, simply for a weekend of alcohol, window-gambling and window-shopping. Window-gambling, you’re probably wondering? Well… any excuse to dress up and get in a casino, but I ain’t risking jeopardising my dollars. With my luck, I’d probably get too merry and end up losing my life-savings on the roulette table, so I think I’ll just observe in this case.

8 – South Africa

A safari is definitely something I would love to do over anything else, and South Africa in general just looks like a stunning country, with fantastic cities to explore, too. Although, this is one that would require a lot of hard saving, so I should put a hold on purchasing 6-shot planks every time I venture out on a Friday night, followed by a burger and chips in Buddies come 5am.

9 – Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Simply for the fact I’d love to see Dunns River Falls, and, well… who wouldn’t want to go to Jamaica? All-inclusive luxury resort, hot sun, Caribbean food and rum cocktails… come at me.

10 – Mexico

Anywhere where guacamole is a standard addition to any meal, I am there and all over that. ‘Nuff said.

What’s number 1 on your travel bucket list? What’s your favourite place you’ve ever been to? Let me know!

Love, Dayna x

  1. I did my Master’s degree at Sussex Uni and in my program fees a field trip to South Africa as included! It was absolutely amazing. The place I want to go to most is Thailand… and I’m FINALLY going this summer! Edinburgh is my favorite place in the UK (after Brighton) and if you don’t mind buses MegaBus from London Victoria is cheap!
