Unboxing The Birchbox – January 2018

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well.

Today’s blog post is, surprise surprise, showing all you lovely people what I received in the January Birchbox.

The Birchbox this month was designed by Ohh Deer, a quirky company who sell unusual stationery, cards, t-shirts and more. And, as always, how bloody lovely is the box design?

B-E-A-utiful. My room is slowly stacking up with these Birchboxes, as I keep them all for storage!

Without further waffle, lets get stuck in to what I received this month. There’s some goodens in here!

Praise the lord, a primer in the Birchbox this month. A girl can never have too many primers.

First up, this primer smells amazing. I’ve used this a few times now and I really like it – it’s quite sticky which put me off at first, but it actually sinks really well into the skin and makes for a great base. I’m a bit miffed at the stingey sample size, but that’ll do, donkey, that’ll do.

If you’re a lazy gyal like me, you will agree that dry shampoo is an invention sent from the Gods – it’s a product of great significance in my life. Like all the experts say and I so gratefully accept, you really shouldn’t wash your hair too often!

There isn’t much to say about this product except it works, it’s oh-so-useful, and I’m happy to have stocked up a bit extra this month!

Okay, so this product I have very mixed feelings on. I don’t know if I love it or hate it.

It’s a makeup removal tool that relies on one thing only: water. Basically, you wet the cloth with warm water, wipe it all over your face and, hey presto, your makeup is off. (After a bit of scrub-a-dubbing, that is.)

This does work well. My makeup comes off with absolute ease when using this, but I still don’t feel like it gives me a fully fresh, clean face. I’m so used to my night skincare routine that using solely water feels wrong. Micellar water is bae.

Another point is that by the next night, the cloth is still damp, so it doesn’t feel squeaky clean. You also have to machine wash it quite often to get rid of the grime, which I can imagine will get quite annoying. I’m going to keep using this and see how I go!

This is one of those products that I know I’ll always have a use for, and am constantly losing, so a replacement is always needed!

When I’m in the mood for some liner, this will be a useful handbag essential. I usually prefer my eyeliner jet back, but this is more of a dark-grey shade which I guess is a welcome change to mix things up. The pigment in this isn’t fab, so it’s better for a less dramatic look. Nonetheless, it will still be used until it’s down to a centimetre stump.

This is sadly one of those things I know I’ll just never use. Like, ever.

As pretty as the product looks, I unfortunately don’t wear blusher. The pink just really doesn’t suit my skin tone, and I especially don’t like blushers when they come in the form of a cream/pencil/crayon – they just do not blend. I mean, I’m sure there are people out there who adore them, but I’m the kind of girl who uses something once and gives up on it when I can’t get it to work. And, yes, I am nearly 20 years of age. Whatever.

So, that appears to round up today’s blog post! I would love to know what you thought of this months Birchbox. Have you ever ordered one?

If you like the look of what you see and would like to try one, I have a £5 off code for your first box you can try here. Enjoy!

Love, Dayna x
