Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well.
Today’s blog post is a review of a hotel I visited recently – as you can see from the title, it’s My Brighton.
I booked a stay here for my boyfriend’s birthday, as who doesn’t love a good staycation?
This place looked perfect: modern, quirky and very central to all the bars and restaurants we know and love (particularly the bars.)
As soon as I walked into our bedroom, I was immediately impressed.

What I particularly loved about our room were the colours and brightness – it was such a welcome change from the usual invigorating colour palettes in most hotels featuring shades of grey, brown and white… classy, but sometimes damn boring, let’s not lie.
This room (a Superior room) was completely different, with a very orange theme.

The bathroom was perfectly clean, with a separate ‘room’ for the toilet. You may have read my review of the Balmer Lawn Hotel & Spa a few months back, and I made it clear: I feel extremely dismayed when hotel rooms do not have baths (similar feeling to when you go to McDonald’s for a Mcflurry and they tell you the machine is broken.)
Come on, hotel baths are just… different. However, in both posts, I will let the no-bath factor slide, because the showers were big, spacious and powerful. A shower that drips out water slower than I can dribble is probably the most frustrating thing in the world, and luckily, this was not one of those situations!

I loved the element of colour featured in every single aspect of the room/hotel. Look at the blinds. Goodbye beige, hello rainbow of red/purple/orange.
I also loved the service this hotel had to offer. As soon as I checked in, the staff were friendly, helpful and smiley, which is very important for me.
They also left this note on the bed, which I thought was a really nice, generous touch:
I’d mentioned in the booking that the stay was for my boyfriends birthday, so they’d obviously taken that on board! A small gesture can really go a long way.
Of course, we made the most of these complimentary drinks in the Merkaba Bar.

The bar was super fancy, and felt really luxurious. There was also a DJ playing in the corner, giving the place a more ‘party’ atmosphere; not too crazy, but not too quiet, either. Nobody wants to be sipping on a mojito listening to classical music, let’s be honest.
There was a multitude of classic and adventurous cocktails to choose from on the menu – I’m an absolute sucker for cocktails, so I felt right at home. If your drink’s not photo-worthy, is there really any point in buying it?
The Merkaba bar was very classy and sophisticated, and I’d love to return for post-dinner drinks, even if I was not staying at the hotel. (Post-dinner drinks are always a good idea, any place, any time.)
A really cool thing about our room was that there were speakers fitted into the ceiling, so you could blast out your own music if you pleased. Of course we did, and we, umm, sampled some more alcoholic beverages upstairs, too.
After a lot of eating and a bit more drinking, it was time to collapse into this bed, which was extremely comfy. A lie-in was definitely on the schedule, as the checkout time wasn’t until midday, which is absolutely perfect (especially if you wake up early next to your groaning boyfriend who has a splitting headache.)
Luckily the hotel is attached to a Small Batch Coffee Shop so a caffeine boost is readily available should you need it.
That seems to round up my review of My Brighton! I would totally recommend it to anyone (as you can probably tell), and for the fantastic service and rooms they have to offer, it is also very reasonably priced.
I’d absolutely love to stay in one of their special suites in the future – they look incredible!
I hope you enjoyed this read – let me know if you’ve stayed in a ‘My Hotel’ before, I’d like to hear your thoughts!
Love, Dayna x
It’s nearly impossible to find experienced people on this subject,
however, you seem like you know what you’re talking
