My Skincare Routine

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing okay.

Today’s blog post is a beauty-based one, and I’m going to be talking about some of my favourite skincare products. This routine is the one I follow before I go to bed, and I also do this before applying a full-face of makeup for a night out. Luckily all the products mentioned are drugstore, so the collection of what I use is pretty affordable.

I haven’t got the best skin and personally never leave the house with zero face makeup on. But, I do think since using these products and switching up my old faves, my skin has improved significantly and I’m slowly starting to feel more comfortable with it.

The first thing I always do is remove my eye makeup with wipes (or, if I’m not wearing any eye makeup, I’ll use the wipe on my face.) I much prefer getting rid of my panda eye shadow with a wipe rather than cleanser, so I don’t waste even MORE cotton pads (honestly, the amount I get through is atrocious) and I also think it feels a lot lighter on my eyes. I generally buy these Nivea 3 in 1 Gentle Cleansing wipes; they’re so refreshing and simple, which is good for someone with relatively sensitive skin like moi.

Next up, I cleanse and remove my face makeup. I’ve been loving micellar water in the past year, and my favourite is definitely the Garnier Skinactive Cleansing Water. Another one I’d really recommend is the Simple micellar water, as it feels so light and clean on your skin. Garnier gets my no.1 vote though – I love the way it almost ‘bubbles’; it feels like your skin is getting a proper, deep cleanse.

For toner, I really like the Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing Vitamin-Enriched Toner… *and breathe*. Even though there is no perfume in this formula, the product has a lovely, light, refreshing scent, which I love.

I’ve chopped and changed my moisturiser quite a lot in the past few years, but I think I’ve finally found the one… this is the Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream. This formula has such a fragrant smell, and is so thick and creamy; it sinks into the skin perfectly without feeling too uncomfortable or sticky.

After this, I use a product which I think is amaaazing and I would recommend it to anyone who gets those delightful things we call spots – this is the Clean & Clear Spot Control Treatment Gel. I’m almost always blotched up with zits around the chin area, and sometimes get those awful angry whiteheads which pop up and make your whole skull ache for days. Not exaggerating here. But anyway, you can literally feel this product working its wonders as soon as you apply it. It does sting quite a bit, but you know it’s doing its thing to shoo away all those persistent little bastards. Even when I’m not so spotty, I still apply this all over my chin as it’s good for preventing them too, not just getting rid.

Last but not least I always apply quite a thick layer of lip balm before bed, as this cold weather does no favours in preventing chapped lips. I probably have enough lip balms to supply myself with until I’m 80 years old after Santa’s annual gifting of a chapstick or pot of Vaseline, but at the moment I’ve been using the Superdrug ‘Little Pink Tin’ with SPF. This is perfect for Summer as well, so you don’t get burnt there. Or, I’ll use my Nivea Essential Care stick. A lip balm I’ve been wanting to try for ages is one of the Burt’s Bees sticks. If anyone has tried and would recommend, let me know!

So, that rounds up my current skincare routine. I hope you enjoyed this read – let me know if you have any other must-have skin products, as I’d love to try!

P.S, keep an eye out for my next blog up on Wednesday – it’s going to be all about what I get up to on Valentines Day. Thanks for reading – have a lovely Monday!

Love Dayna x
